“You Rock" - Pets Or Quotes

Hi it's Crafty Lady here with another fun project! Hope you love it.

Supplies:
·         Rocks any size
·          1 Cup of water
·          Paper towels
·         Paint brushes
·         Acrylic paints
·          Acrylic clear finishing spray
·         newspaper
·         plate or old ceramic dish
Optional Supplies: wiggly eyes, self stick gem, and tacky glue if needed to embellish your rock.
Friendly Reminder:  Just have fun using your imagination - that why they call it ART!
LET'S GET STARTED:  Finding your rock.  I like a rock that feel smooth and has some character - perhaps small lines.  You might not want to find your rock, that's ok - you can buy them at the local store - they are called river rocks.  If you were lucky to find one in nature for free - great.  But as you know - if we take from nature we must give back, so sprinkle some seeds or bread crumbs for the birds and you'll feel good about paying forward to nature.
Wash your rock and let it dry completely, you can set up your work area while the rocks are drying out. Sketch out your pet or quote using, white or black paint depending on the color of your rock. Let paint dry and if you don't like what you drew - the paint washes off easy. If it's a rough rock - you might need to use a little elbow grease.
When choosing a design - it can be simple or as technical as you like, or a simple word or phrase - it's up to you. If making a pet - be sure to shade areas and then highlight other areas as you can see on the WHITE CAT I made. Trim to finish using black paint. The multi color ABSTRACT CAT uses lines colored in and trimmed with black paint. With words and phrases you can add some gems and embellish as you like.
Don't forget the kids can join in at the same time or maybe have an after school or snowy day project.

Hope you enjoy it! Crafty Lady

How To Make A Bow

SUPPLIES:
·         ribbon with wire edges
·         floral/fine weight wire
Hold your ribbon between thumb and index finger 6" from end of the ribbon. Keep right side of ribbon facing up and loop open side. Then twist the ribbon until right side is facing up. Twist same size loop on the other side and pinch together between thumb and index finger.
Repeat steps each time making loops smaller in size. Insert wire through the center of smallest loop. Fold wire in half over area or ribbon you are pinching. Then twist tightly - fluff out ribbon and be sure right side is facing out. Hook wire into smallest loop and pulled down. Fold in half and twist while holding with thumb and index finger then twist tightly, fluff and a beautiful bow you have made. You can also use the bow on gifts by using the same method of bow wrapping.

Hope you enjoy making them! All the best- Crafty Lady!

Halloween Party For The Kids

Halloween is so magical for the kids, so why not throw them a fun party? You can have them make their own construction paper placemats. Give them the stickers and markers and help them personalize their placemat. Give them some coloring books and plan a fun snack for them.

I had fun making a centerpiece for this party! It really impressed my little guests and it was rather simple to construct!

Supplies:

-1 small piece of felt
-gauze
-1 foam cone
-1 foam ball
-4 white pipe cleaners
-2 wiggly eyes
-1 tooth pick
-tacky glue

-mod podge or fabric stiffener
-1 piece of cardboard cut into a circle. That will be your base and you cover it with paper towels.
-black shiny ribbon
-spiders and web to decorate with
-one milk carton bottom
Adhere the round cardboard cut out on top of the milk carton base. Then adhere cone to the cardboard circle. Insert 1/2 of the toothpick into the tip of the cone, put a little glue around the top area and then push the ball down on top of the toothpick. Allow that to dry. Twist the pipe cleaners together and then wrap around the top of the cone.
In a separate bowl dunk your gauze into enough Mod Podge to make it wet. Fold the gauze in 1/2 and then drape over your foam creation. Allow it to dry and then decorate with your web and spiders!! Too cute! Have fun~ Crafty Lady.

Popsicle Stick Spooks

Supplies:
-Acrylic Paint
-Paint Brush
-Black Marker
-Felt: black, white, brown
-Orange yarn
-Glue
-Wiggly eyes
-Tiny red pom poms
-Popsicle sticks
-Scissors
-Moss

Instructions

This is a fun project to do with the kids and remember there's no real wrong way to do this one! I first started out painting my popsicle sticks the colors for each of the characters. Then it was time to cut the felt. For each character I cut an oval piece of felt, folded it in half and at the fold cut a hole big enough for the popsicle stick to poke through. For the bat you will have to cut an extra piece of felt to make the bat wings. This extra piece of felt will be adhered with a little bit of hot glue underneath the little poncho that the oval piece of felt makes over the stick. For the witch you will need to make her a hat and glue on her head. Be creative in the shape you cut- there really isn't a rule in this project!

Pull out the scissors and don't forget to square off Frankenstein's head. He also has 2 pipe cleaners wrapped around his body to make his arms and legs. All you have to do is cross them around him and then bend them to make him look like he's having fun!

Pull out your paint and give your Popsicle Stick Spooks expressions! Once the paint dries you can hot glue on the little wiggly eyes and pom pom noses! The finishing touch is the orange bow either tied around the neck or tied separately and glued on to the outfit! Don't forget to adhere the magnet on the back of your creation and you are done!!

The kids will really love doing this project and so will you! Enjoy~ Crafty Lady.

Introducing Crafty Lady

Before there was Crafty Girl and Crafty Cat-- there was Crafty Lady. In fact Crafty Lady is Crafty Girl's Mom! Crafty Lady has travelled the country perfecting her craft. Crafty Lady started crafting with her father 40 years ago- learning rug hooking from him and also built stone walls as an apprentice stone mason. Since then she's lived in Colorado where she studied landscape painting with English Landscape Artist - Henri' Plum. Her award winning landscapes and clown paintings were highly sought after.
After moving to the Miami, Florida area, she studied with the renowned artist Bob Ross. Crafty Lady later taught art lessons, worked as a floral designer and even made exotic, snakeskin handbags for upscale clients around the world.
Then it was off to Alaska -  where Crafty Lady spent time making Native American inspired crafts for stores in the tourist area of Anchorage Alaska. Inspired by the beauty that is Alaska - Judy is now pursuing a passion for photography. We will be enjoying periodic crafty creations from her and know you will love her insight and talents! You will see her first craft tomorrow! Please help us welcome Crafty Lady!
