It isn't hard to find old washboards. The question is...what can you do with them? You certainly don't want to have to wash your clothes with them. Hanging them on the wall is fine...but try to be creative with your display. Here's an idea for updating that old washboard and giving it a real function. Use it as the face of a spice rack. Obviously, the clear washboards are best for this idea. If you are good with wood, you may be able to make your own shelves. If not, find an inexpensive shelving unit that is slightly smaller than your washboard. Buy hinges to attach the pieces and add a dowel at the bottom for a towel. You can adapt this idea for a medicine cabinet in the bathroom or a craft storage unit in your craft room...use the dowel at the bottom for ribbons. Use your imagination. Even a washboard can spice up your life!!
very clever TY. =)

Love this - I have several old washboards and am going to try it! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea. And how utterly simple to execute. I have an old washboard I was about to get rid of because I was "only" propping it up against the bathroom wall...ok, it was part of the decor but I'd lost interest so now it'll have a new life.
